In past years we have brought students to the UK in the Summer. However, Chinese schools have a four-week break for the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) so we thought that in a break with tradition we would organise a visit in the winter, particularly as this would allow us to visit two new partner schools.

Our students were a group of 40 from six Hebei schools – Tangshan No.54, Baoding Normal, Baoding No.1, Baoding No.3, Baoding No.17 and Baoding Xianxuejie Primary – along with their teachers.

The students had a full and action-packed programme for their 10 days in the UK, including:
 

• Touring the Manchester United football stadium

• Sightseeing in Oxford

• A day of activities at the Low Mill Outdoor Centre in Wensleydale

• Two days with our partner school, The Wensleydale School and Sixth Form

• Fish and chips for lunch in the picturesque town of Leyburn

• A guided tour of Cambridge with a current PhD student

• A sports tournament with our partner school, Bradfields Academy in Chatham

• Football training with the Charlton Athletic Community Trust

• Guests at the Charlton Athletic v Derby County match

• Two days sightseeing in London
