Frontiers of the Roman Empire is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that includes three walls in Europe that marked the borders of the Roman Empire, two of which are in the UK - Hadrian's Wall and the Antonine Wall.

Stockton and Darlington railway

The Stockton and Darlington railway opened in 1825 in northeast England and was the world’s first public railway to use steam locomotives to carry both passengers and freight. It's 200th anniversary was celebrated in 2025 with a year long festival.
